About the Foundation

The Sheena Foundation exists to provide tangible support and assistance to those who have lost a family member or need grief support, with a special focus on widows and widowers. Our mission is to compassionately support grieving families and individuals through presence, practical assistance, and equipping local communities to offer ongoing care. We aim to ease the burden of loss and foster healing when it’s needed most.

Nick Nageli founded The Sheena Foudation in 2026 based on his lived experience of losing Sheena Nageli, just 5 days after giving birth to their second child. It was a truly unexpected loss resulting from a blood infection that was not detected. Nick noticed that so many people have hearts to help out, but they don’t know how to help. This resulted in the question “How can I help?” to a widower that didn’t know up from down.

The Sheena Foundation was created as a bridge between those that want to help and the widow. The Sheena Foundation’s goal is to train and equip those near a widow/widower. We offer learning content to help you take real actionable steps to help. In addition, The Sheena foundation offers a platforn to adopt a family that has recently undergone a loss of a spouse. The Foundation will send in volunteers to create a calendar for the next year of support for the widow/widower. The Foundation will assign duties to all that want to help, and then we will help notify all the people of assigned tasks coming up. The goal is to take all the pressure off the widow/widower so they can just survive.

Ready to make a difference - there are several ways to help. 1) Donate to help the cause, all funds go directly to real local impact, 2) Volunteer - come help us with your time, it isn’t a large committment, but every bit helps. 3) Local business support - sign up to be a local business partner to provide services to select widows/widowers that the Foundation adopts.
